Earlier we told you about a really cool Lava Lamp. In this tutorial I will introduce you to a light that is easier to use.
The LED matrix uses standard WS2812b LED lights to form a cylindrical body that is finally assembled by a wooden frame. It works great!

Bill of materials
790×384 cardboard × several pieces (1.5mm Tilia wood is used here)
WS2812b LED×100(30 / m)
Raspberry Pi or Arduino ×1
Wooden patch or other flexible material x
Electric wire × several
The main design parameter is the thickness of the material used.
1. This version uses 1.5mm cardboard, which is not only easy to cut but also very cheap. If the thickness is changed, the CAD data must be changed accordingly.
2. 3D design helps to avoid problems in the assembly process.
3, laser cutting, the placement of the parts must be convenient laser machine cutting, the size of the cardboard is 790×384 cm.
4. Inkscape is recommended. The attached SVG file contains information for all parts of the project.
Note: I modified the Fusion360 model by using the thickness specified by user parameters, you can also adjust the thickness of the material and generate your own laser cutting file.
